Indonesian Sate and Peanut Sambal

Foods to eat with Indonesian Sate:

Broccoli, cabbage of all sorts, carrots, celery,  chicken, cucumbers, fish, greens, mushrooms, onions, peas (snow peas), rice, salads, salmon, seafood, spinach, and vegetables of all sorts.

Indonesian Sate Recipes

Indonesian Cucumbers

1 tsp. fragrant paste (there are two packets with this spice, one is for the peanut sauce, and the other is fragrant paste)

1 cup water

1 tsp. soy sauce

1 T. rice vinegar (or white vinegar)

1/2 burpless cucumber

Let marinate for 3-4 hours before eating

Fragrant paste: shallots, ginger, garlic, lemon grass, coriander, turmeric, & red chili.  Peanut sambal: peanuts, garlic, red chili, salt.

Mix fragrant paste with 1 tsp.  sugar, 3 T. sweet soy sauce, and 1 T. vegetable oil.  Use this to marinade skewered meat (chicken or beef) before grilling.  Mix peanut mix into 1 cup peanut butter and then stir in 2/3 cup very hot water.  Let sit while grilling meat.  Serve sambal as dip for meat.  Best with steamed vegetables and rice
